Is there a way to install GPS on a touch screen that is already in the car?
I own a 2001 Toyota Prius.There is a touch screen with a button that says map (when clicked external device not connected). Is there a way to install GPS to be displayed on the screen
All Classic NHW11 Prius have the navigation buttons on the dash, installed or not. If not installed, you'll get the external system not available type warning... (The Navigation wasn't an available option for the 2001 model year, BTW.) The DVD-based gyroscopic GPS Navigation system was only available as a factory-installed option, not available as a port- or dealer-installed option/accessory.
If you have the money and the time, you *can* install a factory navigation to a Classic Prius (it has been done), but... New you're missing about US$4000 worth of Toyota parts (for what was a US $1900 option for 2002-2003 Prius), and that's before the labor (GPS antenna lives behind *everything* in the dash, for example). Your best bet would be to scrounge the parts out of an accident wrecked/scrapped 2002-2003 Prius in a junkyard.

Your best bet at this point would be to look into an aftermarket GPS navigation unit, such as those offered by Garmin, TomTom, Magellan, and the like.
