What should subwoofer should i put in my truck?
i have a 2001 ford sport trac, and I already have one 10 inch jl audio(10W1v2-4) under my seat in the back on the passenger side. Now i think I am going to get two more subs and put them behind the seat in the back on the drivers side. I am going to get this box i think: https://www.supercrewsound.com/commerce/product.jsp?prodId=307&catId=72
My question is should i put two more of the same jl subs(10W1v2-4) or two 10 inch pioneer premier shallow mount subs(10" 1200W SVC 4-ohms Shallow Series Subwoofer) in the box. Or any better sub that would fit in that box. Thank you
Yes I listen to rap mostley. I emailed the guy who supplies the box and he said the jl would fit but the box only offers .5 cu ft of air and the subs need .62. He said to ladd polyfil to stimulate 15 to 20 % of air space and I should be fine. So if I listen to rap and already have 1 10 inch jl audio I should only get one more 10 in jl auido and not too?
The problem you are going to have is that box is only 1 cubic feet. And that’s TOTAL shared for each sub. “VERY SMALL” you will have better results with the JL Audio subwoofer.
I ran my program “Bass-box Pro” to find out what the CF is required and you could run two of the 10” JL audio subs with that box. It would be perfect with that box. C.F for each subwoofer is .427 @ 54 Hz sealed which is kinda high but you don’t really have a choice since your limited with space.
Now if you listen to Rap with a lot of low bass you would be better off using only one 10” JL audio using that box ported. You could always buy that box and with the right port size add a port to the box it will give you 32 Hz nice and low. Now you could port it with the 2 subs @ 40 Hz but it won’t be as clean and low with only one sub. It all depends on what you want and the music you listen too or if you want a high SPL than go with the sealed box for high SPL.
Also make sure the depth of the JL Audio will fix in the box if the box is too shallow the sub won’t sit flush inside.
Hope that helps good luck!
