Woofer will not move....?
I have a !5 inch woofer and when I try to play audio through it creates sound (although it' s distorted sound and slight metallic sound is also heard). but the cone never moves. i can push it and it's not stuck or anything and when I removed it from the cabinet, there isn't any visible damage. and the cone is still connected to the other visible part, right before the magnet.( i dunno whats it called, it's usually brown in all the speakers I've seen).
but. The woofer just wont move back and forth when receiving a
signal, all it does is create distorted bass.
Can anyone tell whats wrong and if it can be fixed, the woofer is installed in a cabinet along with a tweeter and midrange and a super tweeter, i think. It's a kenwood kl-888z to be exact
The voice coil is probably blown. More than likely it got fried or overheated, so the electromagnet part of the coil is not repelling from the base magnet like it needs to. Time for a new woofer.
