Installing new car speakers into toyota, but keeping factory stereo- good idea?
For my moms birthday I want to get her some new speakers installed into her 2007 toyota tacoma.
She has a cd player/radio factory stereo installed and I do not have the money to get her a new stereo aswell.
would it still sound good, or have enough power if i just install new speakers?
Also she is not looking to shake the neighborhood with some massive speakers, we just want more power and clarity. Any suggestions?
It will sound better, just look for speakers with high sensitivity ratings, and lower RMS ratings, I would say stay under 45 - 50 Watts RMS if you are not planning to amp them. Also speaker harnesses like these, http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=12071035 will allow you to add them easily, without messing with the factory wire. if you get the speakers from Crutchfield, they will give you the harness free.
