My car won't start. What could be killing my battery power?Do I need a new starter or is there a bad wire?
I have a good battery and a brand new alternator.
If you know the battery is good, and the alternator is charging, you may have a short circuit somewhere in the wiring or elsewhere. Easy to check, not so easy to fix...
Turn everything on the car off- lights, radio, doors closed, everything that can be off should be off. Now, disconnect the + battery terminal and put a 12V test light between the battery terminal and the lead. There should be no light. If there is a light, check to see that your radio doesn't have a draw by pulling the radio fuse (sometimes the radio draws current for a light or to keep station presets normally, same for the ECU, but that is millivolts).
If you still have a light, start pulling the fuses and replacing them one by one until you find the one that makes the light go off. This will tell you what area the short is in.
Good luck!
