Will these subs still work?
I have 2 KICKER CVT10 CVT SHALLOW MOUNT SUB WOOFERS 2-OHM with 400 watts RMS and 800 watts max. i have 2 total of those and i was wondering if a 2008 SONY XM-1S CAR CLASS-D MONO SUB AMPLIFIER 900W would be enough power....by the way im putting it in a 2008 f150 so
there is not much room which is why i got that amp.

Will it work? Yes.
Is it optimal? No.
The amp isn't 1 ohm stable so you will have to wire the subs in series for 4 ohms instead of in parallel for 1 ohm. Per the specs the amp puts out 290 watts @ 4 ohms so that would be only 145 watts to each sub when they are rated for 400 each. In other words each sub will be running at less than half of the design RMS wattage. This won't cost you much as far as sound volume is concerned though since it takes 10 times the RMS power to double the volume (100 watts is twice as loud as 10 watts). Another problem with subs (or any other driver for that matter) being wired in series is that they must either be in 2 separate identical boxes or they must share a single sealed box or a single ported box with the port centered between the 2 drivers. If this is not done 1 sub/driver will see more "air load" than the other and the wattage used by each will not be balanced causing 1 to do more work than the other and wear out faster as a result.
Your best option at this point if you are looking for maximum volume would be to get a second XM-1S amp and use 1 per sub but that would mean 1000 watts of total amp power into 800 watts of total sub power handling so you would risk overpowering and blowing the subs if you ran the system at max volume (power) for more than a few seconds at a time.
