does anyone know about how the social security system works?
ok i live n arkansas and know of someone who filed to get social security or ssi.this is their first time and they found out that they made their decision on the 20th of dec of 2007,but had to send it off to dallas,tx to b reviewed..does that mean they got approved?
It is my understanding that the federal government uses a private company to review applications for SSI. The Social Security Administration prepares all of the documentation to be sent to this body of reviewers (medical records and so forth), who then make a determination on the validity of the case. It is an unspoken rule, but most people get turned down almost automatically, and many don't appeal the decision. If this person has a real disability, he or she will probably have to appeal the initial decision. He or she will know for sure if they have or have not been approved (its pretty clear in the return letter) when the time comes. Hope that helps?
