i got an offer to do 2 12 in rockford fosgate subs, a 1000w alpine amp, a alpine head unit, wires, and install for $500. is this a good deal? and why or why not?

I honestly would say that is a pretty good deal. I'm not sure of the price of the speakers and amp, but from my own experience, i just put a single Kicker Cvx12 running off an 850watt rms clarion amp. wired up everything myself, built my own box. did everything myself and in materials alone i probably spent about $500 to do the wiring. Also, i paid wholesale price for the amp head unit and speaker.
If your actually buying from a store and there offering you a deal with 2 new rockford subs and a new 1000w amp. just check into the cost of the subs head unit and amp alone. of course, make sure that the items they are selling to you are actually good items, they may be packaging their super cheap line just to get rid of it, and still making a large profit.
