Where can I find some information on building a desert superlite? I want a rear/mid mounted engine with either rear or all wheel drive. I am working with limited funds and will be using old junkyard cars/trucks/ATVs for most of the parts.
I need to know what to look for in an engine. Motorcycle, car, truck? I want it to be really fast so this means power but also being light would help..
How should I set up a transmission?
Do I need panles on it or just open cage?
Do I just pull the steering system out of an old car or build my own?
How do I set up breaks?
What kind of tires should I use? I will be racing on dirt and gravle.
Going to need suspension. Out of an old car or truck? ATV perhaps?
What about differentials?
How do I set up a hand break?
I would go look at what others have and see what you like and copy the good parts.
remember that turbocharged motors have the most power out for how much they weigh.
taking an entire drive train of a car is easier.
I would take the engine and transmission and drive lines and rear differential (front and center are inside the transmission) and the computers and wiring from a WRX sti.
then make my own tube frame.
