I am buying a custom built computer from iBUYPOWER.com for around $1000 for college?
Tell me if this place is reliable and if the specs are not good. Here is what im planning to order with $956 on just the desktop (no monitor included).
1. Eagletech Viper II Aluminium Gaming Tower Case w/420W Power Supply (Red/Black 2-Tone)
2. Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6600 (2x 2.4GHz/4MB L2 Cache/1066FSB)
3. [=== Silent ===] Thermaltake MaxOrb CPU Cooling Fan System Kit
4. Asus P5N-E SLI nForce® 650i SLI Chipset w/6-channel CODEC, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0, IEEE-1394 Dual PCI-E MB
5. 1024MB [512MB X2] DDR2-800 PC6400 Memory Module Corsair-Value or Major Brand
6. NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT 256 MB
7. 200 GB HARD DRIVE [Serial-ATA-II, 3Gb, 7200 RPM, 8M Cache]
8. 18X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive (Black)
9. 3D Premium Surround Sound Onboard
10. 600W PMPO 3 PCS Super Bass Subwoofer Speaker System
11. Onboard LAN Network (Gb or 10/100)
12. Logitech Deluxe Keyboard (Black)
13. Surge Protector [Opti-UPS Surge Buster]
14. MS Windows XP Home Edition
I can get a brand name for less at a reliable place like Costco. Costco will actually TAKE IT BACK for any reason. No questions asked... I'm looking right now at their HP with 19" flat Panel monitor for under $900.
But that system looks pretty good for just under $1000. Too bad about the shipping costs. Of course, you are buying an old fashioned operating system by sticking with Windows XP. Good luck with that. Windows Vista is the wave of the future.
Good luck and Happy Computing!
