i have a 94 mercury grand marquis.. i'm lookin for little ways to help out on the power.. i've ported and pollished the throttle body, cut the extra things off of the black plastic piece that says v8 overhead cam and sealed the holes to make it a "cool air intake"... money is tight and i was just wondering what all i could do exactly that i haven't done yet to help the performance at all...
If you have a single exhaust you can install a dual system, that adds a few extra horses. I did that with my 98 Crown Victoria (Twin car to the Grand Marquis) and she has more pick-up and go.
If you go with dual exhaust make sure you go to Ford to get the proper bolt on tail pipe, and muffler hangers and bolts, you don't want them welding any makeshift hangers to the bottom and the frame of your car, The hangers from Ford bolts on to the frame for the tail pipe and the undercarriage where the muffler hanger goes. You'll also need two exhaust dampers as well, these reduce vibration from the exhaust and the original single exhaust only has one damper. The dampers are not necessary but they do reduce vibration.
