i have a new power acoustic p3 subwoofer. rated at 2600 w max 1000 w rms.Impedance (Per Coil): 2-Ohm. its a 2?
ohm sub. and i only have 1. its in a single 12" double ported band pass box. now i need an amp i think my best bet would be a mono block amp. since i only have one subwoofer. but i dont know how big of an amp i should use without hurting my speaker. i dont know if i need to match the ohms together or the rms or what? i was thinking about buying a Bridgeable SOUNDSTORM 1200W MONO F1200M. which is 4 ohms: 200 watts x 1 chan.or 2 ohms: 1200 watts x 1 chan. now i have no idea what this means........please help me figure out what kind of amp i should use.
being a mono amp does not limit you to driving a single speaker. A mono amp can drive an infinite number of speakers as long as the speakers are wired in such a way that the impedance at the amp is within the amp's stability limits.

1 ohm will work best with a 1 ohm stable mono amp.

4 ohms generally works best with a briged 2 channel amp.
If you want to get the most out of that sub you would want to try to get around 1000w rms to it. Either at 1 ohm or 4 ohms. Due to the high efficiency of a mono amplifier (which are generally glass D) vs a bridged 2 channel (class a/b) you would be better off with mono as it will be less demanding on your car's electrical system.
The f1200m you mentioned is not a great choice for a few reasons. For one, soundstorm does not produce very good quality amps and its power ratings are MAX which is almost meaningless. Its rms values, and more importatly its ACTUAL power output are very low for a sub like that. Plus, it is not 1 ohm stable, it is only 2, so with your sub you'd be stuck with the 4 ohm option which would only get about 200w rms to your sub. It would work, but your sub would not be driven anywhere near its peak performance.
