1999 Lincoln town car leaks water into passenger side floor board when it rains?
My 99 lincoln town car leaks into the passenger side floor board when it rains or when I wash the car. I can see the water running down behind the glove compartment into the floor board area. Any ideas?
Take off the cowl under the windshield wipers and check the weatherstripping on each piece for dry-rot & cuts. Under the cowl you will find a little screen (and possibly even a cabin air filter depending upon your model. I am not sure if that option was offered yet on that model). The screen will be there to trap leaves & trash from going into your A/C fresh-air intake. That screen should have a gasket under it which will help to seal the water channel from leaking into your vehicle. Check that seal as well for dry-rot & tears or cuts. Because the cowl weatherstripping is only designed to direct the water into the drain channels around the fresh-air intake. If all of these seals are intact (doubtful) then the next step would be to check the seal around the windshield itself. One cool trick to check for leaks around the windshield is to turn on your a/c in defrost mode and close up all doors & windows then spray soapy water in a spray bottle along the seals to see where bubbles may form. Good luck, finding leaks is a pain and takes time & patience.
