My external hard disk is not readable or file get corrupted. What can I do to restore my data?
I think last night someone pluck out my external hard disk from my lap top without turning off on safe mode. The light still blinks and disk moves as normal. The drive Icon is detectable. But It can not be open with message: Is not accesable. "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable". Please can someone help to recover my data there?
Download ubuntu 9.04, make a cd from the image file and insert it into the drive. Boot as a live cd, then plug in the drive, it should recognise it as an external drive, that will allow you to copy the files onto your hard drive.
