Bass guitar help!!!!!!!?
I am just started learning a little bit about bass and I'm looking for a kit or set. My family has a very strict budget so lowest price as possible for a reasonable bass.Im to young for a job right now so I am also tight on cash.
There are many pre-owned instrumnets around.
1. Check to see if the strings are tensioned correctly (in tune).
2. If you look from the bridge down the neck, be sure that it does not bow upwards or warp from the side of the heaviest string (E).
3. A solid body with 2 dynamic pick-ups will get you started for about $60 - $100 for a good entry level instrument.
4. You can start out with a pre-owned prctice amplifier with a 8 or 10 inch driver and it doesn't need to be any more power than about 15 watts RMS. Keep looking for a better one once you progress and develop your craft.
5. As long as you can put your ego aside, you may be able to show interest in in another bassist that may show you a few things, let you experiment with his / her instrument and may even have an old spare that you could bargin by trading.
6. If you select an accoustic, you will probably pay a little more but won't have to worry about an amplifier.
By all means, get some free advice from a music teacher or other professional. If you were in my neighborhood, I would probably help you out to get started as long as it was OK with your parents.
There are lots of ways to earn cash or find free goods that you can trade for cash. Just figure out what people need and keep your eyes open. You can always work to help someone and they will pay or trade with you.
