High current power cable versus pro power cable?
I bought a 2000 watt amp wiring kit for my subwoofers and amplifier and they sent me 4 gauge pro power wire and they sent me some 8 gauge high current power wire. Also they send fuse and ground distribution blocks, batter clamp and inline fuse holders and such. Which do i use and where do i run it to? (ie. different wire from fuse holder to distribution block?)
Also How do i wire in the fuse and ground distribution blocks?
Use the 4 AWG, bigger is better here. The fuse should be no more than 18" from the battery. Keep the ground as short as possible. If not bolting the ground to an existing bolt scrape away the paint first. Know what's on the other side of the hole before you drill. Use lock nut and a star washer.
The main fuse rating shouldn't be much higher than the sum of the fuses on the amp(s). Equal is best.
