What size fuse do I need?
I recently bought a new amp to integrate into my current system. The total RMS will be 1800 watts from two amps. I need to know what amperage fuse I need from power cable from the battery to my distribution block to the amps?
I'm running 4 gauge wire all around.
What gauge is your power wire?
The main purpose of the fuse at the battery is to protect the power wire between the fuse and the amplifier, so you need to factor in the wire size when selecting a fuse. For 1800 watts RMS, you'd probably want at least a 200-amp fuse; but your wire needs to be at least AWG #2 for a fuse this size. If you're using 4-gauge wire, you shouldn't use a fuse larger than 125 amps.
