Power Lock on a VW Jetta MKIII stopped working?
It was working ok few months ago but it seems like it was slow to unlock or to lock like it was struggling a little bit. I don't know if it is normal for this car but it stopped working I think after my father left it unlocked in his front yard and someone stole my CD player faceplate. I don't think missing a faceplate would make the power lock nonfunctional but I thought I should add this information in case it is acutally part of the problem. My moonroof and all the interior lights work ok. Fuses are still good.
1999, 2.0L, GT, 5 spd, Manual window, power locks
peel back the rubber boot in the drivers front door jam. check at just about where the rubber boot/ harness disappears into the drivers door. Check the red wire with yellow tracer. They wear out and break from opening and closing the door. Fix the wires if broken.
