Does Master Gig's Effect negate the activation of flip effects or cards flipping face up?
Say for instance I paid 1000 to use Master Gig's effect to destroy a face-down card (in this case, I control one psychic, the opponent controls one monster). Come to find out its a flip card...does it activate or does it work like Mystic Swordsman and destroy the card period?
(Same applies for Destructotron, if I paid a cost to destroy a face down spell or trap card, could they still activate it to use the effect of a spell or trap? And if they could and its continuous, does it stay on the field or is it destroyed?)
yes, it does. when you destroy the monster IT IS NOT FLIPPED FACE UP. flip effects ONLY activate if the monster is ATTACKED, by a CARD EFFECT, or by the owner flipping it face up on their own. those are the ONLY ways. monster destruction destroys the card and sends it straight to the graveyard. its FLIP effect is not activated. but other monster cards effects (sangan, ect) might activate, regardless.
