Alright, so i bought a JBL GTO1204BP Preloaded with, i believe the GTO1204D subwoofer, which has DVC.

Specs say it has an impedance of 4 ohms. To my understanding, if the coils were wired in parallel, 2 ohms would be present, wouldn't it?

Its pre-wired out of the box @ 4 ohms (supposedly). I've already seen all the wiring diagrams available on the internet but i just don't understand how you can get a a single DVC sub (4 ohms per coil) to still be at 4ohms.
The subwoofer only has a single set of leads. Not 2 sets.
Unless they have only wired up one coil there is no way you can wire a 4ohm Dual Voice Coil Speaker to 4ohms, only 2ohms or 8ohms. The best way to find out would be to unscrew the sub and take it out of the box and check for yourself whether it is a SVC or DVC sub.

where your subs basket has a black basket. I don't think you have the GTO1204D but a different sub.
After doing a bit of research I found out that the box incorporates a newly designed sub with a shorter basket design and Dual 2OHM voice coils. These coils have been wired in series to the terminal and this is why the impedence is 4 ohms.
