how to hook up my dvc sub now?
i just picked up a 1000 watt max dvc subwoofer and have a 2 channel 1000 watt max amp, the sub is a 4ohm dvc and the amp is stable at 4ohms so what is the best way to hook it up with details and to make it sound the best and last.
I got the 1000 watt sub to upgrade from my svc 800 watt max sub so i want of course more performance from the new sub.
btw sub is soundstorm "force" 1000 watt dvc sub and amp is american pro car audio 1000 watt max 2 channel amp
Each coil appears to be 4 ohms on the manufacturers website.
The amp is rated down to 2 ohms minimum per channel.
Bridging an amp generally means doubling the minimum impedance, in this case, to 4 ohms.
The amp should be pushing 8ohms bridged or 4ohms x2. This is the lowest impedance i suggest wiring for. Any less may damage your amplifier.
The wiring for the 8 ohm config is simple. Wire the two coils in a row, connecting the terminals on the coils as shown: + - + - attach the + wire from the amp, to the - terminal on the sub and vice versa. --the amp should be bridged, for this format.
For the 2x 4ohm format, just wire each coil to one channel of the amp.
The amp you got is not going to be able to put out 1000watts max to the sub, since it is not able to support a 2 ohm x2, or 4ohm bridged format. You will be getting about 500 watts max.
It should still be decent, but to get the full power out of the amp, you have to find a driver that matches the ideal load resistance.
