My monitor is displaying "no input signal" when trying to install a new video card.?
I am trying to install my old video card on someone else's computer. He already has an ATI card installed via VGA. This card I am trying to install is an EVGA 8600GT. I plugged in the card (DVI), installed the drivers, and Vista says that the card and the drivers are installed properly in the device manager. However, when I switch the video input on his monitor from VGA to DVI, it says no input signal and switches back to VGA. The card works fine on my computer and another computer I tested it on, but it will not work on his for some reason. I have tried shutting down the computer, unplugging the VGA cable, plugging in the DVI cable, and turning the computer on. The monitor doesn't come on. I tried swapping the cables as well and as I previously mentioned the video card works on both of my computers.
I would try shutting down the computer, removing the old card, then boot and see if that works. If not he may have a bad PCIe slot.
