Will an Pioneer AVIC-F700BT fit my civic?
I'm looking to upgrade my Non-Nav 2006 civic at a cheaper price than the OEM navigation system.
I have the correct color double din dash ordered and I'm considering the Pioneer AVIC-F700BT as the unit. I ordered the Ipod connect cables as well as XM cables. Now I have a few questions:
- I've looked up self instal guides online but they all seem to include wire splicing and soldering. Is it really this difficult?
- I have steering wheel audio controls. Do I need a special set of cables to work the unit with these?
There are several items that will be necessary to purchase in order to complete the installation.
The first item will be a mounting kit. This will allow the Pioneer unit to sit into the factory location without any gaps around the unit. The model for the mounting kit is made by Metra and is 99-7871.
The second item will be a wiring harness. If the radio has a factory amplifier, you'll need to purchase the harness made by Metra by which is 70-1727 and bypass the amplifier. If there is no factory amplifier, you'll need to purchase the harness by Metra with the model 70-1722.
The third part made by Metra is a Honda antenna adapter which allows you to continue having FM/AM radio. The model is 40-HD10.
Another part which is made by Pioneer with the model ADT-VA133 will be required to hold the unit into place inside of the mounting kit.
The final part required will be made by PAC and the model is SWI-PS. This allows you to integrate your unit to work with the steering wheel controls.
My final bit of advice is to have it professionally done. It's not as simple as plugging in wires.
