What is an epicenter for a car stereo?
I have an epicenter for a car stereo. I am wondering what it is used for and if I have any purpose for it. I can already turn up and down the bass with a remote on my amp. And how much are they worth used?
I have an epicenter (by: Audio Control) installed...What this unit does is restores the bass notes by, I believe, dropping the note by 1 dB octive. When songs are recorded...the bass is cut out (at the "sub level") b/c most (I'd say ALL) OEM car manufactures do not install high quality speakers...it is to keep the cost down. When installing a high powered audio system...there are a lot of equipment that need to be changed...example: Alternator, Power cables (all), battery, High current fuses, just to name a few. When buying a car, would a avg person or family spend abt $500 on a decent audio system or $5000 for a "avg High powered audio system. Now if one wanted an "ALL OUT" audio system...I'd say it will cost abt anywhere between $5000 to $50000 or more. It will cost more then the car itself.
I am getting off the subject here...lol. Anyway...most (I'd say ALL) OEM speakers can't play the low bottom end notes, and that is what the epicenter (the unit I have) does. Before you go out and buy it, you will need an amp and a Sub. I'd say a 12" would be fine. If you look at the car audio magazines, most of the vehicles uses 12" subs.
It is great...I love my epicenter by Audio Control...it makes the bass deeper.

If your headlight dims with the bass notes, the “BIG 3” might work. If not an H.O. alternator will be needed, or else be prepared to pour a lot of $$$ for batteries.

I've designed my car for SQ (Sound Quality) not SPL (Sound Pressure Level) my imaging is very good. The bass sounds as if it is up front and my 12 inch sub (picture as shown) in the trunk. I LOVE how it all worked out.
