At the starting car Traction Control and ABS light comes on. Once I take car out of park and put into gear Traction Control light goes off, but ABS light stays on. Have checked all fuses under dash and under hood. Brakes were done two months ago, but no problem until last few weeks - got stuck on ice and snow...did not hit anything. Light came on sometime afterwards - cannot remember exactly when. I suspect some common item that works with both Traction Control and ABS! But am clueless as to what are the possibilities or where to look... Have no money to go to shop but would like to track this down...
Two separate issues, or maybe one... The ABS light is on cause it's not working... has nothing to do with getting a brake job... most likely a faulty sensor... pulled out of place, or damaged when you got stuck.
The traction control light only comes on the your traction control engages... when you were stuck, it would light up cause you're spinning your tires at different speeds trying to get out... did the light stay on once you got unstuck?
Some vehicles both systems read off the same sensor... check the wiring at the back of the wheels, make sure they did not come apart.
