rite i have just got a wire to phono (RCA) adapter, i am planning on connecting all 4 speaker wires from the head unit an converting them to phono, then a 5 meter lead to the 300w 4 ch amp in the boot, my head unit gives out 4 x 50w max, so there is 200w max sent to the amp before its amplified right? so will the amp produce 500w max? i no that the pre-outs on my head unit put out 0 watts but i want to use the power already produced by the head or it will go to waste as the 4 ch amp will be powering my components and my 6x9s, i already have an amp running a sub separately, please help

If you WANT to set your car on fire, carry on.
Use your head unit to drive the front-door speakers. Cap them off with the right value of capacitor in the positive lead. Cross-tie a centre-speaker in the dash, for a fantastically good sound-stage. Use your amp to run your 6x9's, and keep your amp and sub seperate. Remember that all audio stuff weighs LOADS. My Merc has a stereo, I have gone for quality, not volume. My Alfa-Romeo has NO stereo in it. All about lightness and power.
