amplifier wiring/car audio?
is it absolutely necessary to have a fuse block by my car battery in the power wire to my amplier?
or can i run it straight power from battery to amp?
NO WAY! The fuse is very important! What the fuse does is stop your car from catching on fire if there is a short or if your amp is over loading your wire/battery.
How it works is simple:
Your amp is obviously sucking power from your battery. If for some reason there is a short your fuse will burn out. If that fuse was not there your wire would overheat and catch fire anywhere between the battery and the amp. So not only is it saving your car but also if your amp did not have an onboard fuse it will also ruin your amp and make it unuseable.
