Ok the light that says AUTO signals a fault within the Automatic Gearbox. It could be anything from low automatic transmission fluid to a real serious fault. Will need hooking up to a diagnostic machine to get the exact fault and have it cleared. The reason you get limited performance is because the car is putting itself into that mode to prevent further damage.
The snow button is for driving with ice or snow on the road. All it does is start the car from moving in 2nd gear instead of 1st, to reduce wheels slipping and spinning when moving off in the snow.
The D3 button means the car won't change into fourth gear... it will only use 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears (for driving up prolonged inclines, or keeping the engine speed high for overtaking).
