I wake up after about 4 hours of good sleep every night, and can't go to sleep again?
what type of herb or supplement can I take that could leghten my sleep to a full 8 hours which I used to have. I should also mention that when I wake up in the middle of the night, if I use zynex, I can go back to sleep again, and zynex is an anti axiety drug... regular sleep medicine does not work well for me and only makes me drowsy only zynex...any suggestions?
There's actually a few answers I have for this.
First and foremost, if you are having trouble sleeping like that on a regular basis, you should probably check with a doctor (like a sleep specialist). Your body should be able to sleep through the night at least on a somewhat normal basis without pills (natural or drugs). There may be some medical condition that's keeping you up that you need to address. You really shouldn't need to take any sleep aids more than 2-3 times a week on a regular basis unless there's a problem.
Second, yes there are several herbs that help with sleep when they are needed. There's Melatonin, Valerian, Chamomile, Hops, L-Tryptophan, L-Theanine, Passionflower, and Scullcap (an herb).
You can try any one of those to help you sleep naturally.
Third, your body might be telling you that you only need 4 hours of sleep every night. Not everyone needs 8 hours... most young children need 9-11 hours, many older people need 4-6 hours, etc. I know some people that can't sleep more than 5 hours a night unless they are really sick.
My best advice is still to check with a sleep specialist to rule out medical problems, plus they can find out if your body really only needs 4 hours of sleep at this time. Good luck!
